Where does all the stuff go after a declutter?
One of the biggest questions I get when helping clients declutter is… “But what do I do with everything I no longer want?”
Decluttering can feel so much easier when you know there’s a plan for the things that are leaving your home.
One option worth knowing about is a doorstep collection service, where unwanted items are picked up from your own front door rather than driven around to different banks and shops.
What they can usually collect
- Clothes & shoes
- Bed linen & towels
- Books
- Toys & soft toys
- Bags & accessories
- Kitchenware, crockery & cutlery
- Small electricals
- Tools
- Laptops & tablets
- DVDs, CDs & games
- Ornaments & vases
- And more…
And the things they can’t take
Importantly, there are also items they can’t take, so always check the collection guidelines before booking. Furniture, mattresses, bulky items and anything dirty, wet or damaged are usually excluded.
Have a plan for what happens next
So if you’ve been putting off a declutter because you’re wondering “where will all this stuff go?” Don’t let that be the thing that stops you.
Decluttering isn’t simply about deciding what goes. It’s about having a plan for what happens next. That might be donating, selling, recycling, gifting or arranging a collection, and that’s all part of creating a home that works better for you.
Less clutter. More space. More calm.
If you’d like help getting started, Home to Perfection can help you work through the process, one space at a time.
