The Service, in Plain English

What you're actually booking,
and what it's for.

What it is
Wardrobe organisation is a full edit and rebuild of your hanging and folded clothing storage. Every item is handled, categorised, and given a defined home; off-season pieces are properly stored; and any wardrobe insert, shoe rack or hanger upgrade is specified to fit the actual space rather than guessed.
Who it's for
It's for anyone who dresses from a chair rather than a wardrobe, has multiple sizes hanging together, has moved recently and never really unpacked, or feels the wardrobe holding them back from the way they want to dress.
When to book
Best done at seasonal change, before a big life event, after weight change (up or down), after a breakup, or when you find yourself buying replacements for things you already own, you just can't see them.
Why professional help matters
Most wardrobes hold two or three times the clothes that get worn. A proper edit shrinks visible volume, sharpens what remains, and typically reveals outfits you already own but had forgotten.
Inside the Work

A closer look at
what actually happens on the day.

Wardrobe work has its own techniques. Here's what I actually do inside an Essex wardrobe, walk-in or dressing room.

The Full Empty

Everything comes out. No exceptions. You cannot properly edit a wardrobe half-full, the volume hides itself.

Category Sort

Grouped by type: tops, shirts, knitwear, trousers, dresses, skirts, coats, formalwear, sportswear, loungewear. Only then do we sort by colour within each category.

Try-On Where Needed

Items you're unsure about are tried on then and there. Fit today, worn in the last full season, and 'would you buy this now?' are the three honest questions.

Hanging vs Folded

Fabric type dictates storage. Knitwear folded (never hung, it stretches). Silk and structured shirts hung. Denim folded or hung depending on space. Underwear, socks and swimwear folded with dividers.

Hangers & Inserts

Matching hangers introduced (velvet for slim profile, wood for structured pieces). Drawer dividers specified to internal measurements. Shoe zones set up properly rather than piled.

Off-Season Storage

Winter coats in summer, linen in winter, occasionwear year-round, properly boxed, labelled and stored in the loft, spare room or under-bed, freeing 30–40% of daily wardrobe space.

Handbags, Shoes & Accessories

Handbags stored upright with dust bags where present. Shoes zoned by type and heel height. Jewellery either wall-hung, drawer-lined or in inserts, never in a pile in a bowl.

Walk-In & Fitted Wardrobes

For walk-ins and fitted units I plan zones by outfit type rather than category alone, so a full weekday work outfit or a weekend outfit lives together, faster to grab and easier to plan.

What You Actually Get

Concrete outcomes,
not vague promises.

Faster Mornings

Zoned wardrobes mean a full outfit lives in one line of sight, getting dressed drops to under two minutes.

Rediscovered Clothes

Every wardrobe edit surfaces pieces you'd forgotten. Most clients report shopping less for six months after.

Less Damage

Correct hangers (velvet, wood or shaped) stop shoulder bumps and knitwear stretching.

Actual Off-Season Storage

Winter coats, summer linens and formalwear go into proper storage, wardrobe pressure drops immediately.

Kinder to Your Body

Only clothes that fit today live at eye height. Aspirational sizing is either stored respectfully or edited out with kindness.

Confidentiality

APDO code of conduct, nothing about your wardrobe leaves the session unless you post about it first.

Our Five-Step Process

From first call
to systems that last.

Every project follows the same considered rhythm, so you know exactly what happens before, during and after we work together.

Start with a Free Call
  1. 01

    Free 30-Minute Discovery Call

We talk through the rooms causing the most stress, the outcome you want and any constraints, pets, small children, working from home. No pressure, no obligation, no upsell.

  2. 02

    In-Home Walkthrough & Measure

I visit your home, measure every relevant drawer, wardrobe and cupboard, photograph the space and agree the scope in writing before any work is booked.

  3. 03

    Plan, Sourcing & Prep

I design zones around how you actually live, source any storage inserts, hangers, labels or baskets, and confirm the day-by-day plan so you know exactly what to expect.

  4. 04

    Hands-On Organising Day

We're working alongside you throughout. Everything is sorted, categorised, edited and placed. Anything leaving the house is bagged and removed the same day.

  5. 05

    Systems Handover & Aftercare

You get a short walkthrough of the finished space, a simple maintenance routine your household can actually keep up with, and a follow-up message a fortnight later to check nothing has drifted.

The Consequence of Leaving It

The Cost of a Wardrobe You Can't See

A cluttered wardrobe silently causes a lot of expensive behaviour. Clothes get replaced because you can't find the original. Dry cleaning gets forgotten in a bag at the back. Ironing piles up because there's no clear return spot. You dress from the top of the laundry basket, or from a chair, because the wardrobe itself has become a wall of noise. Confidence in what you wear drops because getting dressed feels like a compromise. Over a year a disorganised wardrobe easily costs several hundred pounds in unnecessary purchases and a lot of low-grade morning stress, often the first negative event of the day, every day.

Common Mistakes I See

  • 01Buying matching hangers before editing. Half of them end up empty and stored in the loft.
  • 02Keeping clothes 'for when I lose the weight' at eye height. They punish you every morning.
  • 03Hanging by colour without first grouping by category. Pretty, but useless when you want a shirt.
  • 04Ignoring off-season storage. A wardrobe cluttered with winter coats in July is 30% oversubscribed for no reason.

Frequently Asked

The questions
most Essex clients ask.

How long does a wardrobe organisation take?+

A single wardrobe is usually a full day; a walk-in or master dressing room is one to two days. Confirmed after the walkthrough.

Do you supply hangers, inserts and boxes?+

Optionally, yes, sourced to fit the exact space and confirmed in writing before the session.

Will you make me get rid of things?+

No. I'll ask honest questions and hold up the fit/frequency/would-you-buy-it-now filter, but nothing leaves without your yes.

What happens to what leaves?+

Same-day removal to local Essex charity shops, textile recyclers or consignment where appropriate.

What does it cost?+

Confirmed on the discovery call once I know the size of the wardrobe and whether you'd like me to source the inserts. Written figure provided before booking.

Can you help with a partner's wardrobe too?+

Yes, with their consent. Two wardrobes together is often more efficient than two separate visits.

Do you photograph the finished wardrobe?+

Only with your written permission and never with anything identifying. Most clients decline and that's absolutely fine.

Which Essex areas do you cover?+

Rochford, Upminster, Southend, Thorpe Bay, Rayleigh, Chigwell, Colchester, Sudbury and London.
