The Service, in Plain English

What you're actually booking,
and what it's for.

What it is
A hands-on unpacking and settling service that turns a stack of removal boxes into a properly functioning home. Kitchen, main bedroom and one bathroom go first so you can sleep, wash and eat by night one; the rest is worked through methodically across the following days.
Who it's for
It's for anyone facing a move without the time, or the energy, to unpack it themselves. Working parents, dual-career couples, downsizers, people moving cross-country, families with young children, and anyone whose last move ended with the spare room still full of boxes a year later.
When to book
Ideally booked before completion so I can be on-site the day of the move or the morning after. Also useful weeks or months later for households whose move-in stalled halfway.
Why professional help matters
The first week in a new house sets the pattern for how the whole home functions. Unpacking with a professional means every category gets a proper home from day one, you don't spend the next six months rediscovering which drawer the tea towels ended up in.
Inside the Work

A closer look at
what actually happens on the day.

Move-ins have a specific rhythm, the sequence matters as much as the speed. Here is how I structure a typical move-in project.

Pre-Move Walkthrough

If we can visit the new property before completion, I map storage, note built-in furniture, and agree the zone plan so unpacking is deliberate from box one. Where a pre-move walkthrough isn't possible I do this the morning of the move.

Night One Priorities

Kitchen essentials (kettle, mugs, one pan, cutlery, plates), main bedroom (bed built, made, curtains up or temporary covering), one functional bathroom, and a defined charging zone. Everything else can wait until morning.

Kitchen Setup

Full kitchen unpack by zone: prep, cook, serve, hot drinks, food storage. Everyday items go at hand height, occasion items go up. Small appliances that will live on the counter are placed; those that won't get proper storage from day one.

Wardrobes & Bedrooms

Clothing hung by category, matching hangers introduced, shoes zoned. Bed linen stored by set. Any pre-move edit we agreed on is executed during unpack rather than after.

Living Spaces

Furniture placement reviewed with you (removers often place based on what's easiest, not what works). Books, decor and daily items unpacked and zoned; nothing sits in a box waiting for a shelf that will never come.

Home Office & Utility

Cables labelled and coiled on install. Utility, laundry, cleaning products all zoned properly on day one so bad habits don't start.

Packing Materials & Removal

Boxes flattened, paper compacted, and the whole lot removed the same day. Anything you no longer need after seeing it in the new home is routed to charity or recycling on the same trip.

What You Actually Get

Concrete outcomes,
not vague promises.

Speed

A trained organiser typically unpacks in a third of the time a family manages between school runs and work.

A Working Kitchen Day One

Kitchen is prioritised so you can cook a real meal the first evening, not order pizza for a fortnight.

Made Beds

Bedrooms and one bathroom are set up first so night one feels like moving in, not camping.

Boxes Actually Gone

Empty boxes and packing paper are flattened and collected the same day, no month-long recycling backlog.

Settled Systems

Categories go where they'll actually be used, so the house works from the start rather than being reshuffled for a year.

Reduced Stress

Moving is one of the most stressful life events. Delegating the unpack removes the biggest ongoing pressure once completion is done.

Our Five-Step Process

From first call
to systems that last.

Every project follows the same considered rhythm, so you know exactly what happens before, during and after we work together.

Start with a Free Call
  1. 01

    Free 30-Minute Discovery Call

We talk through the rooms causing the most stress, the outcome you want and any constraints, pets, small children, working from home. No pressure, no obligation, no upsell.

  2. 02

    In-Home Walkthrough & Measure

I visit your home, measure every relevant drawer, wardrobe and cupboard, photograph the space and agree the scope in writing before any work is booked.

  3. 03

    Plan, Sourcing & Prep

I design zones around how you actually live, source any storage inserts, hangers, labels or baskets, and confirm the day-by-day plan so you know exactly what to expect.

  4. 04

    Hands-On Organising Day

We're working alongside you throughout. Everything is sorted, categorised, edited and placed. Anything leaving the house is bagged and removed the same day.

  5. 05

    Systems Handover & Aftercare

You get a short walkthrough of the finished space, a simple maintenance routine your household can actually keep up with, and a follow-up message a fortnight later to check nothing has drifted.

The Consequence of Leaving It

The Move That Never Quite Finishes

Most moves stall at the same point: essentials get unpacked, the kitchen half-works, and then ten to fifteen boxes get pushed into the spare room, the garage or the loft to be 'sorted at the weekend'. Weekends turn into weeks, weeks into months, and eventually the boxes get opened only when a specific item is needed, often after replacing it. Meanwhile the house never quite feels settled: cupboards fill randomly, furniture is placed based on the removers' guess rather than actual use, and the family lives around the mess rather than in the home. A move-in service closes this loop while the momentum is there.

Common Mistakes I See

  • 01Unpacking room by room instead of by category, you'll open the same box three times.
  • 02Leaving the kitchen for last. If it doesn't work by night one, you'll spend hundreds on takeaway.
  • 03Filling cupboards in the order boxes come in, rather than by zone and frequency of use.
  • 04Storing 'to sort later' boxes in the loft or garage. They don't get sorted later.

Frequently Asked

The questions
most Essex clients ask.

When should I book?+

Ideally two to four weeks before completion so I can attend a pre-move walkthrough. Last-minute bookings are possible depending on availability.

Do you work with the removers on the day?+

Yes, I coordinate directly so boxes go into the right rooms and unpacking can start immediately.

How long does a move-in take?+

A three-bed family home is usually two to four days depending on volume. A whole-family relocation with children is often staged across a week.

Do you supply hangers and inserts?+

Optionally, yes, pre-agreed on the walkthrough so they arrive with me on day one.

What does it cost?+

Confirmed on the discovery call once I understand the size of the property and the state of the move. Written figure provided before booking.

Can you help if we moved in six months ago and never finished?+

Absolutely, a stalled move-in is one of the most common reasons people call. Same approach, just without the removers.

Do you help with downsizing moves?+

Yes, and I usually recommend a decluttering session before the move so you don't pay to transport things you'll discard on the other side.

Which Essex areas do you cover?+

Rochford, Upminster, Southend, Thorpe Bay, Rayleigh, Chigwell, Colchester, Sudbury and London.
